Justice Kavanaugh of the United States Supreme Court denied Florida’s stay application to block a law potentially unconstitutional in light of the First Amendment. This law criminalized restaurants allowing children to view “adult live performances.” Florida, seeking to preserve the law while its appeal is under consideration, only contested the district court’s scope of relief, which placed an injunction on the law’s enforcement beyond Hamburger Mary’s. Nevertheless, it was established that the question over the injunction did not warrant the Supreme Court’s attention, and thus the stay was denied. The case was deemed an “imperfect vehicle” to address this general issue.
