Janet Reno passed away in 2016. The Justice Department has a deep impact on the people of the United States. Janet Reno served in the final 22 months of Bill Clinton’s presidency, but was a part of several controversial events and decisions. One of these events was the Waco, Texas at the Branch Davidian compound in 1993. Reno approved the use of the FBI and tanks and chemical weapons which led to the death of 80 people.

Reno was the first woman to hold the position of US Attorney General. A biographer of hers writes about Reno as a “consistent, ethical” person, and “largely uncritical.” But committees and violations by Reno are well-documented. Moreover, the book fails to explain why Reno allowed the FBI to use toxic gases and tanks to attack the Davidians.
